NC Parenting Educator Credential

Establishing standards for practice is critical to the development of a profession and promotes quality services.  In 2002, North Carolina became the first state to offer a credential for parenting educators. Since then, NCPEN has awarded credentials to hundreds of parenting educators in NC and other states.  NCPEN recently heard from parent educators who felt it was time to review the credential, revise and update it.  After much research and discussion with parenting educators, graduate students, and colleagues in related fields, NCPEN proposed revisions to the NC Parenting Educator Credential at the 2010 Spring Forum. Subsequently, a committee of credentialed parenting educators was formed and undertook the task of carefully reviewing the revisions and the application and re-certification processes.

Applications are reviewed quarterly (January 15, April 15, July 15, October 15). Applications are reviewed by a panel of credentialed parenting educators.

Once your application has been submitted, you will be notified of your review date.
