2014 Membership Renewal

Dear Parenting Educators and Colleagues:

It is time to renew your North Carolina Parenting Education Network (NCPEN) membership. Annual membership is good January 1 through December 31 of each calendar year. Dues are $15 for individuals, $12 p/p for organizations with 5 or more members, and $10 for current students. The 2014 membership application is attached, and online at http://ncpen.org/membership/.

Great things are happening with NCPEN and we want you to be a part of the Network so you don’t miss out.  Our members and partners regularly network with others who are passionate about children and families. We actively advocate for and support parenting educators, as well work to advance the field parenting education in NC.

There are perks to NCPEN membership. NCPEN members receive a discounted rate to attend the annual NCPEN Spring Forum, which will be in late April, 2014. Details will be posted online at www.ncpen.org  in early 2014.  Speaking of the website, we have added a lot of NEW information and features, including an NCPEN MEMBERS ONLY directory! Your paid annual membership now includes access to register your profile in the *NEW* NCPEN parenting educator directory.  Any visitor to the NCPEN website can search the directory either by category or by using key words.

Online membership renewal is preferred; however, we will accept a check.  Please make your check payable to NCPEN and send it to:

NCPEN Credentialing Chair Receives Prestigious Award

NCPEN Members in Raleigh at 2013 PCANC Learning and Leadership Summit

Dear NCPEN members and friends,

I attended Prevent Child Abuse NC’s Learning and Leadership Summit in Raleigh, NC last week.  It was a wonderful experience.  Not only did I attend informative and entertaining talks and great workshops, but I also connected with some terrific NCPEN members from across the state.  One of the highlights of the conference for me was being present when NCPEN Credentialing Committee Chair, Rachel Galanter, received the Donna Stone Award.  The award was established in honor of the founder of Prevent Child Abuse America.  Recipients of the award “embody Stone’s vision of utilizing community engagement, collaboration, and volunteerism to prevent child abuse and neglect.”  As Family Support Program Manager at the Exchange Clubs’ Family Center, Rachel passionately leads efforts to promote the implementation of evidence-based family-strengthening programs and strategies in Durham.  She also serves as a champion for high quality parenting services as chair of the NCPEN Credentialing Committee.  Under Rachel’s leadership, a dedicated group of NCPEN volunteers has fine-tuned the NC Parenting Educator Credential and credentialing process (http://ncpen.org/parenting-educator-credential/).

It is my honor and pleasure to work with Rachel.  I’m so glad I was able to see her receive the Donna Stone Award and be publically recognized for her tireless efforts to improve the lives of children and families in North Carolina.

Please join with me in congratulating Rachel Galanter (http://ncpen.org/board-of-directors/rachel-galanter/)!

Kindly,

Stephanie Jones,

NCPEN Chair
